I would like assistance in the upkeep of the Oakland cemetery in Weatherford.
I live in the San Diego California area. I don’t get back to Texas often. My mom and grandparents are buried in the Oakland Cemetery.
I visited Weatherford last year. Found that their grave site was overrun with weeds. I contacted the city manager, and he never got back to me with a phone number to contact anyone associated with the Oakland Cemetery. Can you help me?

We understand your concerns about Oakland Cemetery. Many have tried to get the owners to take responsibility for caring for it. Our charter does not allow us to adopt an active cemetery (one in which people are still being buried). We join with you in asking for help in the situation. I believe the cemetery is not actually in the City of Weatherford boundary might be the reason you didn’t hear back from them.
If it makes you feel any better, this subject comes up in our discussions from time to time and we continue to look for ways to deal with the situation.
